We started building tiny homes in our backyard, people made fun, but now we're laughing as com

BEFORE the tiny home movement took off on social media, Randy Jones was building them in his backyard.

But 1,500 houses and a 30-acre industrial site later, the company has grown to $20million tiny home empire.

Incredible Tiny Homes is a Newport, Tennessee company that makes and sells ready-to-go affordable tiny homes built in the USA.

Randy Jones and his business partner Amanda Hayes have grown the company from a backyard project to a $20 nationwide powerhouse in less than ten years.

Despite their success, Randy and Amanda are focussed on keeping costs low, so they can pass on the savings to their customers.

Their team of builders uses innovative materials and an assembly line approach.

“Kind of like Henry Ford’s assembly line for an automobile, we can build a house and get it out of here in two hours,” Randy exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

Randy has also partnered with the Amish community, which has become a significant labor force for the company.

It’s these approaches, and a slim profit margin of around 30%, that allow Incredible Tiny Homes to sell its houses so cheaply.

The most affordable model, the Incred-i-Box, is just $15,000 for a durable 8 x 16 home.

MISUNDERSTOOD MOVEMENT

Although the tiny home movement has exploded in popularity in recent years, many people still struggle to see the appeal of a smaller space.

Both Randy and his customers know these misunderstandings all too well.

“Almost everyone that bought one has gotten flack from their families,” said Randy.

“Some of them didn't even tell their families, they were ashamed to tell them because everybody was being so critical and making fun,” added Amanda.

But Randy says the naysayers don’t understand the value his company is adding to people’s lives.

Where to buy a tiny home

THE tiny home phenomenon found new heights as an alternative living solution for consumers concerned with ballooning homebuying costs and sustainability concerns.

COMMUNITY PROPERTY

As well as its affordable tiny home builds, Incredible Tiny Homes operates six tiny home communities, with residents paying just $200 a month in lot rent.

Although the company does not yet make any money from this arm of the business, it has created a powerful sense of community among the residents.

Around 98% of those who live in these villages are women, many of whom are divorced or widowed.

“They get a great comfort being in a community,” said Randy.

“So they all ride together now to the store, to the doctor. If somebody is sick, they'll take care of them or bring them food.

“Our communities are really thriving and helping each other. And it's proven the point completely.”

NO SMALL PLANS

Incredible Tiny Homes was recently valued as a $20million company, and Randy, now 63, has big ambitions for the future.

He and Amanda are partnering with other companies and building tiny home villages in Kentucky and Nevada.

As for the residents, they’re not going anywhere.

“99% of our folks move in and never move out,” said Randy.

“It's more than just building homes and making money. It's changed everybody's life here, whether you work here, or whether you live here.

“The American dream is, you can take nothing and make it into something, and that's what we're doing.”
