A KROGER and Walmart shopper has called out the stores' pricing on sale items and warned that it's not going to get better.

He said that prices have doubled since Christmas.

Danno, who lives with his wife in Cincinnati, Ohio, shares videos on his YouTube channel (@AdventureswithDanno).

In a post-Christmas video from late December, Danno shared takeaways from a visit to Kroger to stock up on snacks for New Year's Eve.

His video is titled: "THIS IS A TRAP!!! - PREPARE For The WORST!"

Another cut of the video shared to Facebook is captioned: "THIS IS A TRAP AT WALMART! BAD THING COMING."

But he said the deals were "not what they were."

"Most of the sales we saw today were regular prices last year," he said.

Danno pointed out macaroni salad as an example, saying it was priced on sale at $6.49 - but said that was the regular price last year.

He also said that Walmart's prices have increased, though they're still slightly cheaper than Kroger's.

"They are doing a pretty good job though of keeping it just a few pennies under Kroger," he said of Walmart's prices.

But Danno wasn't impressed by what he saw at Kroger.

"Today most of the sales that we saw were regular prices last year," he said.

"Some people had even said throughout the year that prices are going to double going leading into 2024."

Danno said that he didn't think prices would actually double but noted that since Christmas, he saw many prices increase.

"When we're talking sale prices they have absolutely doubled," he continued.

Still, Danno insisted that the worst is yet to come price-wise.

Danno also claimed that shoppers are "being lured" and "now it's becoming forced on us" to have to shop sales.

He pointed out that stores have always directed shoppers toward sales with large displays right near the entrance.

"You can't afford not to buy this," he said of stores' messaging in having those massive sale displays.

Meanwhile, both Kroger and Walmart claimed they brought lower grocery prices to customers during the holiday season.

In November, Kroger released a statement saying the company was launching Freshgiving Prices "lower than last year."
